What you will do

  • Work as part of a team to deliver complex plant-based meat products using animal-free ingredients.

  • Support R&D team in attaining short-term and long-term development goals. Adapt to evolving scientific

  • priorities.

  • Understand ingredients and processes to create new product attributes.

  • Improve existing products or processes, develop formulation and create finished goods specifications.

  • Develop processes for the production of recipes at large scale.

  • Integration of new technology to create a delicious proof of concept products.

  • Lead efforts on recreating flavor systems resulting in meat identity and flavor integration in formulations.

  • Create formulas to meet customer requirements and internal testing needs.

  • New ingredient sourcing, evaluation, costing, qualification and specification.

  • Conduct sensory analysis.

  • Assist pilot and commercial scale trials, establish data and make a technical case for product feasibility.

  • Support Marketing, Sales, and Customers for ingredient and flavor performance, seasoning profiles and applications.

  • Generating ingredient statements and nutritional information.

  • Collaborate with external labs to conduct analytical as well as nutritional testing as needed.

 

 

Requirements for the position

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Food Technology, Food Chemistry or long time experience as Master Butcher or similar

  • Strong working knowledge of ingredient functionality and flavor, formulation, nutrition and food labelling regulations.

  • A passion to create delicious products.

  • Strong knowledge of flavor chemistry and how to integrate flavors.

  • Strong quantitative skills for the design of experiments and data analysis & interpretation.

  • Experience with formulation development.

  • Experience with designing and conducting sensory testing.

  • Strong analytical decision making and problem-solving skills.

  • High level of initiative with an ability to plan and manage tasks autonomously.

  • you speak English, Spanish would be an asset

  • Open minded to quickly adapt his/her strategy to changing environments.

  • Likes to work in a fast-paced, collaborative setting, with a lot of interpersonal interaction.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a Food Scientist with meat and plant-based product development experience (extrusion experience also helpful).

  • Knowledge of plant-based meat formulations and processes.
