Sensory and New Product Developement Specialist


Location: South Europe/Mediterran See


  • The Sensory and NPD Specialist leads the sensory panel as well as the consumer validation of products and product prototypes to ensure products meet consumer expectation. 

  • The Sensory and NPD Specialist identifies consumer trends to initiate product development and product improvement opportunities and carries out trials in the development lab


Key Accountabilities


  • Identify market trends for the initiation or development of new/enhanced company products

  • Set out a detailed brief for new product development and coordinate activities with other team members

  • Effective exploration of new formulations in the development lab

  • Research and explore into new process/product technologies

  • Evaluate and assess available raw material suppliers for the required project

  • Leading of Consumer Understanding activities on R&D projects by defining clear and time bounded plans, execution, analyses, reporting and present results

  • Constantly keeping  our products under review by highlighting and initiating improvement projects to ensure product best quality and cost

  • Contribute to new development ideas/briefs by shaping and aligning to consumers

  • Identify opportunities

  • Excellent ability to deduct conclusions from sensorial data and consumer reports

  • Ability to create a climate of innovation – has passion for new knowledge, experiences and challenges


Sensorial Leadership

  • Lead sensory analysis and collect and compile consumer knowledge & consumer trend for the defined product categories

  • Guide product development based on sensory & functional characteristics

  • Maintain efficiently the flavor library to provide efficient product development support

  • Serve as the our  Sensory Panel Leader by developing, training and maintaining the panel to support product development and product quality initiatives

  • Keep abreast of latest sensory techniques

  • Apply statistical methods for data handling



Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Master Degree in food science or sensory science

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a NPD environment of the food industry with exposure to a variety of sensory and consumer techniques in product concept development and testing (qualitative and quantitative)

  • Technical skills

  • Expert food science knowledge

  • Knowledge in sensory evaluation and in a variety of consumer research techniques

  • Good knowledge of statistics
