SENIOR EXTRUSION ENGINEER m/f/d

Location: Barcelona

What you will do

  • Develop novel processes to produce texturized, plant-based whole-cuts meat products at large-scale.

  • Understand process’ influence on ingredients and their functionality.

  • Design and standardize innovative texturizing processes, from the formalization to the assessment.

  • Be the technical lead / expert on extrusion-based processes for whole-cuts at large-scale.

  • Integrate conceptual and prototype systems into our production line.

  • Lead efforts for the continuous innovation of extrusion processes to optimize production cost, reliability,and replicability, and improve and expand the range of food products.

  • Identify, design, develop and implement process improvements.

  • Support the design and be responsible of the manufacturing of prototypes and final working devices to

  • adapt and improve conventional equipment to our microextrusion technology.

  • Supervise process and equipment development, technological project management, standardizingprocesses.

  • Evaluate the applicability range of the different formulations and explore different extrusion and processing

  • techniques.

  • Support the implementation of new formulations and product lines.

  • Carry out tests at industrial facilities using different equipment and assessing results.

  • Assist, support and train product line operators.

  • Interface with project managers of New Product Development and 3D Printing teams. 

 

 

Requirements for the position

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in either Food Engineering/Science/Technology, Chemical, Mechanical, Materials Engineering, Biochemistry, or other relevant qualification.

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in food extrusion technology, food manufacturing and end products.

  • Hands-on experience with HME techniques and other plant-based extrusion processes and formulations.

  • Strong knowledge on standard industrial process equipment and innovative food production processes and

  • equipment, from conceptual design to prototyping and manufacturing.

  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing mechanical devices and equipment.

  • Knowledge of functional ingredients, with a specialized focus on plant-based proteins, additives and texturizers.

  • Being able to work in a fast-paced setting on different projects at the same time and prioritize.

  • Creative thinking and high level of initiative to conceptualize ideas into working prototypes.

  • Strong analytical decision making and problem-solving skills

  • Open minded to quickly adapt his/her strategy to changing environments.

  • Likes to work in a fast-paced, collaborative setting, with a lot of interpersonal interaction.

  • Proficient level of English is required, also proficient Spanish is preferred

 

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as an extrusion expert of plant-based formulations that reached market.

  • Experience with high-moisture extrusion techniques.
